Tamil Nadu Travel Guide

Tamil Nadu popularly known as The Land of Tamils has been home of Tamil people since 1500 BC. It is the seventh most populous state in India and eleventh largest by area. Tamil Nadu lies in the southernmost part of the Indian Peninsula. It is bordered by four states and a union territory and also with the Eastern Ghats, Nilgiri, Anamalai Hills, Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar, Palk Strait and by the Indian Ocean. The cradle of ancient Dravidian culture, Tamil Nadu extends from Coromandel Coast in the east to the forested Western Ghats in the west.

Tamil Nadu is home to many natural resources, classical arts, music and literature, Hindu temples of Dravidian architecture, beach resorts, hill stations and multi religious pilgrimage sites, and eight World Heritage Sites. The East Coast runs along a lovely seaside (with unique Puducherry showcasing a French colonial heritage) and the Nilgiri Hills host mist Ooty, Coonoor, Kodaikanal. It has some of the most remarkable temple architecture in the country and a living tradition of music, dance, folk arts and fine arts. Tamil Nadu is well renowned for its temple towns and heritage sites, hill stations, waterfalls, national parks, local cuisine and the fabulous wildlife and scenic beauty.
