Bijaipur

Bijaipur Castle, located in the Vindhyanchal hills at 600m above sea level is a fantastically set 16th-century palace apparently plucked from the whimsy of Udaipur and dropped into this rural retreat. The historical 16th century castle has opened its doors for visitors of Bijaipur as a great heritage hotel in 1991. The ruling family members still reside in the castle and share their traditional experience with guests. It’s a great place to settle down with a good book, compose a fairy-tale fantasy or just laze around. The interiors of the castle are capturing and decorated with antiques and traditional artifacts. Located 40 km from Bijaipur, Chittorgarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India and also probably the grandest in the state of Rajasthan. It is a World Heritage Site. Its origins are traced to the Pandavas of Mahabharata. It is said that Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, built the fort. Standing on 180 meters high hill, the fort covers an area of 700 Acres. It sprawls majestically over a hill 180 m (590.6 ft) in height spread over an area of 280 ha (691.9 acres) above the plains of the valley drained by the Berach River. Inside it is the Meera and Khumba Shyam Temple.
