Bijaipur is located 40 km south of Chittorgarh and it is a place with historical relevance, picturesque sites and also serves as the base for many excursion destinations. Located 40 km from Bijaipur, Chittorgarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India and also probably the grandest in the state of Rajasthan. It is a World Heritage Site. Its origins are traced to the Pandavas of Mahabharata. It is said that Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, built the fort. Standing on 180 meters high hill, the fort covers an area of 700 Acres. It sprawls majestically over a hill 180 m (590.6 ft) in height spread over an area of 280 ha (691.9 acres) above the plains of the valley drained by the Berach River. Inside it is the Meera and Khumba Shyam Temple.
