Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh and is located in northern India. In 1864, Shimla was declared as the summer headquarters of British India. It became capital of Punjab after independence and later named the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla was discovered by Captain Charles Kennedy in the early 19th century. Shimla is a hub for India's tourism sector. It is among one of the top preferred entrepreneurial locations in India. It has well developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions which make it one of India's most popular hill stations. It is situated in the lower ranges of the Himalayan mountains, and surrounded by pine deodar, oak and rhododendron forests. Towards the north lie the snow covered high ranges. In the town there are host of splendid colonial edifices, quaint cottages and charming walks. Shimla offers a variety of shopping, sport and entertainment activities.

Mall Road is the main street in Shimla and was constructed during British colonial rule and is located a level below the ridge. This 7 km long thoroughfare, running from Boileauganj in the west to Chhota Shimla in the south-east, demarcates the original limits of the town. Ridge Road is a large open space, located in the heart of Shimla and runs east to west alongside the Mall Road, and joins it at the Scandal Point on the west side. On the east side, The Ridge road leads to Lakkar Bazaar. Ceremonial parades and official state functions are also held here.

The forested dome of Jakhu Hill, at 2450 m is the highest point in Shimla. At its peak stands a templededicated to monkey god, Hanuman.

It flows from height of 1586 m. The fall is encircled with thick green woods from all sides and look amazing in the midst of steep hills of pine and deacor. This fall is very favorite destination of Shimla.

It is the second oldest church in North India. Dominating the eastern end of the Ridge it is a prominent landmark. It was constructed in 1846, its fine stained glass windows and impressive organ were acquired in the 19th century.
