Dirang is a city in Dirang Tehsil in West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh State and is located 20 KM towards west from District head-quarters Bomdila at about 5,000 feet above sea level. Its original name (with diacritics) is Dirāng and this picturesque hill station surrounded by the high mountains of the Eastern Himalayas welcomes one with snow-capped mountains, gushing streams and lush greenery. It is at a much lower altitude than Bomdila and thus, the weather is much milder & comfortable, a constant wind blows along the river valley making it a very pleasant place to stay. It is a small, quiet town situated on the highway from Assam to the Tawang region and is blessed with great weather and known for its unique tribes, spectacular views and the pretty valleys nearby. Dirang is one such location that helps you enjoy, rediscover yourself and be inspired. Dirang is a perfect environment where you will feel at home away from home.
Dirang Dzong or the locally known as “ JONG, which is a tribal area is situated on the shores of Dirang River. This ancient village set up by the Monpa tribe dates back to more than 500years.
The fort (Dzong) was built in the 17th century as it represent the authority of the King / Chief and also an importa centre of Public Administration and is also an important historical monument for the Monpas of Dirang circle. . It is at a strategically located hill top and comprises of an array of four storied fortified stone buildings in which the entire village could take refuge at the time of war. The architecture of the tribal colony is stunning as the houses were built to sustain the hostile weather in the region. The foundation of these houses is of stone and the walls and roof are built of wood.

Kalachakra Gompa refers to a monastery is a 500 year old and located above Kalachakra, a village in Dirang. It is in the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism and is frequented by those who follow Buddhism as well as others who love the serene atmosphere.

It is located 4 km away from Dirang township enroute to Tawang and was given a facelift on '10th November 2012. This natural hot-water spring flows from atop the nearby hills and drains into Dirang River all throughout the year. The hot spring is rich in sulphur content and is known to have great medicinal properties. Buddhist believers from far and near throng the site and camp here to bathe and meditate during holy months. There is facility to have bath in the hot spring which can have a magical effect on a journey tired body.
