Mararikulam is a beach village in the district of Alappuzha. Mararikulam is a beautiful beach village governed by two panchayats, namely Mararikulam South and Mararikulam North. Mararikulam is approximately 90 km from Cochin International Airport. It is the fertile land of communism and has a very beautiful beach which is known by the name Marari Beach or Mararikulam beach. The pristine shoreline, the thatched huts, the stunning sunset and the small village roads that seem to lead to nowhere make Marari a post card pretty destination. Although predominantly a fishing village, Mararikulam is also famous for its coir-making. Mararikulam Shiva temple is a popular attraction of the region and has idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The shrine of Lord Shiva and Sree Parvathy, is exceptional in its architectural magnificence. The Cherthala Karthiyani Temple is an ancient temple with Devi Karthiyayini as the presiding deity. The temple is also known for its beautiful architecture. Ashtami Rohini, Navarathri, Thiruvathira and Mahashivratri are the major festivals celebrated in the temple.

It is the oldest European church in India is a predominant tourist attraction in Marari. St. Francis Church was built out of wood in 1530 by the Portuguese and was subsequently renovated by followers of St. Francisco. The wood based architecture of this Church enthrals tourists during their visit to this historical monument.
