It is located on the banks of the River Yamuna, 55 km north of Agra and 170 km from India’s capital Delhi, is also known as Braj and is popularly believed to have been the birthplace and home of Hindu god Lord Krishna. During the ancient period, Mathura was an economic hub, located at the junction of important caravan routes. Mathura was the capital of the Surasena Kingdom ruled by Kansa the maternal uncle of Shri Krishna. Mathura attracts many tourists and pilgrims through out the year. Every nook and corner of the city reverberates with the music of flute that was played by Lord Krishna in his youth.
It is a religious temple located in the crowded city of Mathura. It is a dark, prison cell-like room belonging to Kamsa where Lord Krishna was born.
