Bundi

Taragarh Fort or 'Star Fort' is the most impressive structures of city of Bundi. It is a rather ramshackle fort with its overgrown vegetation. It was constructed in AD 1354 upon a steep hillside. The Taragarh Fort crowns the crest of a steep hill overlooking the town. The palace is entered through the imposing Hathia Pol ("Elephant Gateway"), flanked by two towers and topped by a pair of huge painted elephants. The most spectacular parts of the palace are the Chattar Mahal (built in 1660), and the Chitrashala, an arcaded gallery (built between 1748 and 1770) overlooking a hanging garden. This fort bestows a choice of serene stroll round its property. The quick eye-catchers comprise the Bhim Burj, a huge fortification with a field gun rested on it and a huge reservoir that is engraved out of a single piece of rock. 

Garh Palace was commissioned by Rao Balwant Singh and is also known as Bundi Palace. There is an  edifice in the palace along with fading murals on the walls. It is considered to be one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. The palace is approached by a steep, paved carriage way, through the Hazari pol or the 'Gate of the Thousand'. The outer portion of Garh Palace has 'Chitrashala' is a magnificent pavilion and gallery of fascinating murals and which is the only official portion open to the general public.

Nawal Sagar Lake is an artificial lake, which is visible from the Taragarh Fort and is located within the heart of Bundi. The mirror image of the entire city can be easily seen in the waters of this lake,  which flows in the middle of Bundi. Nawal Sagar Lake gives reflection of the palaces and forts of Bundi those can be seen in the water of the lake. It is a square shaped lake, which houses a small shrine of Lord Varuna. A boat has to be taken from the banks of the lake to reach the temple in the center of the lake as the shrine is half submerged into the lake water and is surrounded by various baoris.
