Mussoorie is a hill station 34 kms from Dehradun and situated at an altitude of 2003 m above sea-level in the Garhwal hills. The name, Mussoorie is derived from plants of 'Mussoorie' which were found in abundance here. In 1820, Captain Young of the British army was influenced by the beauty of this place and made it his residence. After its discovery, this hill station gradually developed as a centre of education, business, tourism and beauty. Mussoorie became hugely popular with the Raj set. The ghosts of that era linger on in the architecture of the churches, libraries, hotels and summer palaces. One of the Raj’s most popular summer retreats. Mussoorie is perched on a horseshoe shaped ridge above the Doon Valley. It is beautiful, undulating, tree-covered hills, looking down on the Doon valley and with a fantastic view of the Mighty Himalayas. Popularly known as the Queen of Hills, this charming hill station is one the beautiful hill stations in India and the most frequently visited.

It is a 3 km long road starting from Kulri Bazar and ends at Library point where one can enjoy the beautiful view of a mountain. On the way you get to see a British Cemetery which is around 180 years old.
The main charm of this road is horse riding and walking down the road in the sunset time of the Himalayas is very attractive. Camel's Rock with a life like resemblance can be seen from the spot near Mussoorie Public school. One can enjoy various snacks and a telescopic view from this road.

The Kempty Falls are situated 15 kms from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road having an altitude of 4500 ft. This place is located nearly 1364 meters above sea level and It has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain and is surrounded by high mountains. John Mekinan in 1835, had developed this place as a tourist destination due to its panoramic surroundings and views. Bath at the foot of the falls is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike. The name of the place is derived from Camp-tea, the place where Britishers organised tea parties during their ruling period.

Gun Hill offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and Gangotri group etc. and a bird's eye view of Mussoorie town and Doon Valley. It possesses a historical significance that a canon is fired from the place at a fixed time on every afternoon and this firing at the hill provided an idea of time to the local residents of the destination and they adjusted their watches accordingly. It is situated at a height of 400 ft above The Mall and can easily be reached by taking a ropeway ride. The sheer thrill of the ropeway ride ride is memorable. Tourists can witness snow- capped peaks of Himalayas and The Mall on either side of the place.
